Zecchino D’Oro
Animated Music Videos — Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano / RAI
The Zecchino d’Oro is Italy’s long-running children’s music competition, broadcast on RAI 1 since 1959 and performed by the Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano. I developed the visual concepts and storyboards for two animated music videos accompanying songs from the competition.
L’Orangotango Bianco (59th edition, 2016) tells the story of an albino orangutan who finds love and acceptance despite being different from the rest of his troop — a gentle tango set in a lush forest. Cavoli a Merenda (58th edition, 2015) is a playful, fast-paced piece built around Italian food-related idioms and wordplay.
Both videos needed visual development that could appeal to a young audience while carrying the warmth and charm the competition is known for — character design, environments and pacing that matched the personality of each song.
