A Guide to Data and AI in Healthcare - Imperial College London
Data and AI in healthcare can feel opaque and intimidating to the general public. Imperial College London, supported by NIHR and Cancer Research UK among others, wanted to create a guide that would demystify these topics and give people the confidence to engage with how their health data is used.
I helped translate the content into a series of illustrations for the printed and digital guide, and art directed four animated videos accessible via QR codes within the booklet: What is Bias in Data, Correlation and Causation, What is an Algorithm, and What is Artificial Intelligence.
The challenge was finding visual language for abstract concepts — making ‘algorithmic bias’ or ‘correlation vs causation’ tangible without oversimplifying. I worked with the Imperial team to develop illustrations and animation that respected the complexity while remaining genuinely accessible to a non-specialist audience.
