The Chainsmokers - Paris VR
Interactive VR Music Experience - Kuju / Ralph Creative / Sony
For Sony’s Lost In Music campaign, Grammy-winning duo The Chainsmokers wanted a VR experience that would let fans feel their track Paris differently every time. Built in Unreal Engine by Kuju and creative agency Ralph, the experience puts the viewer inside the mind of band member Drew Taggart as he remixes the song in real time.
Viewers fly through an ethereal 3D landscape where gaze and navigation choices reshape the audio — looking at objects triggers subtle changes to the mix, while decisions along the route make major shifts between the original and remix stems. The result is a different version of the song every time you play it.
I storyboarded the experience, helping translate the creative concept into a sequence that could work for first-time VR users at live events — many of whom had never held a controller. The interaction model relied entirely on gaze, making it intuitive enough for festival crowds at SXSW and Sony Square events in the US and Japan.
Paris VR was shortlisted for Most Creative Use of Marketing at the VR Awards 2017 and nominated for Best Branded Experience at the Raindance Film Festival.
